St. Patrick’s Day is one of the first signs that spring has arrived! The Irish holiday is celebrated every year on March 17 and is named after Saint Patrick, commonly recognized as the patron saint of Ireland. Originally, the color associated with Saint Patrick was blue but over the years, the color green and its association with St. Patrick’s Day grew because Saint Patrick is known to have used the three-clover shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish.
Green is now one of the most recognizable colors of spring. Light green color schemes thrive in nearly every kind of spring event. The color also harmonizes well with many other hues like lavender, below. Weddings, baby and bridal showers, and Mother’s Day luncheons are all easy events to adopt the cheery spring pigment.
Create simply striking centerpieces by filling rental glass vases with bright green apples and water. Top with a few stems of light green hydrangeas and wrap the vases with natural colored twine.
Another simple table décor option is to jazz up your basic white tablecloths with a green patterned wrapping paper table runner (yes—we said wrapping paper! Inexpensive, easy to find, and no laundry afterward!)
Designing a green menu is a breeze with spring’s delicious green fruits, vegetables and herbs (limes, lettuce, cucumbers, mint, apples, kiwi, avocados…just to name a few!) Cucumber sandwiches and mojitos are great menu options for your next spring event.
